Everyone Loves SINA!
It would be easy enough to relate how unbelievably talented SINA is. Or that she has a breathtaking voice. And no question that she looks terrific.
How boring, though, at a time when talent is springing up everywhere, like weeds; when every voice is ready—or made ready—for the studio, and good looks almost belong to that voice.
Instead, let’s speak about what distinguishes SINA and what, moreover, is far more valuable than talent, voice, or appearance: SINA has a heart—and has never relinquished her own force of will. When SINA enters a room, she radiates so much personality and zest for life, radiates her unique warmth and human touch, that you have to like her. And by the time you realise that she’s totally wacky, a bit scatterbrained, and therefore absolutely authentic, you already love her.
At the end of the 80s in Gummersbach: as daughter of a musical Greek mother, and thanks to the marked fondness of the Greeks for exuberant celebrations and boisterous weddings, SINA is up on the dance floor as soon as she can walk. Performing is in her genes, and at 13 she forms her own band. Joint gigs throughout the region are the best teacher, and SINA is a quick study. She gets so good, in fact, that she’s booked more and more often as a soloist, and the decision to continue along this path is a logical consequence.
This path takes SINA through many stages. One of them is the infamous Linus Talentprobe (Talent Show) in Cologne, at which just under 8000 highly critical spectators vote SINA as winner. Her reputation spreads, and she begins to serve as Vocal Host for the DJ-sets in all the big-name clubs. Her voice and her unique stage presence make her a welcome guest both in her own country—for example in the famed Cocoon Club (Frankfurt) or on the ‘In Bed With Space’ Tour 2009—as well as internationally—among others, in Costa Rica and Russia.
Months later the release of her debut single. Suddenly And the Summer climbs the download charts of Saturn and Media Markt to Number One. Media interest is stirred! Newspapers like the EXPRESS, the Berliner Kurier, and the Westdeutsche Zeitung are writing stories, and then the BILD Zeitung names SINA as one of the most attractive single women in Cologne.
Reason enough for the prominent fashion chain NEW YORKER officially to outfit SINA with their latest collection and to present her as a Live Act at store openings. And the Summer even goes on a world tour with Europe’s leading travel group TUI and plays throughout the Summer Season 2009 at all the pool decks of 250 international Robinson Clubs in rotation.
In any case, all ears in Germany are already directed towards SINA: within a month her song climbs to Number Three on the Berlin radio show Radio RBB 88,8 listener chart under the auspices of radio icon DJ Jürgen Jürgens. Radio stations like SWR3, SR1, or Antenne Brandenburg carry And the Summer to all corners of the country.
Once a snowball rolls, the avalanche builds—along with the number of appearances before a really large audience. Whether on the Rapidshare Stage at Gamescom, at Women’s Run 2009, or at YOU in Berlin—SINA’s performances wow organisers as well as thousands of viewers. Even the entire Frankfurt CSD goes wild!
In the end television discovers SINA’s single on its own when SAT.1 chooses And the Summeras Title Song of the SAT.1 Live Summer Campaign. SINA enthralls audiences in a wide variety of TV appearances, for example on TV TOTAL, not just with her professionalism onstage, but especially with her unique and warm-hearted nature, a nature which no one who experiences SINA live can resist.
Of course it needs an ambitious and artist-oriented label like the young team of SoBeHo Records in Cologne to appreciate and know how to cultivate SINA’s potential, arising from her enormous talent, her love of different musical styles, and her extensive experience. Her first album is taking shape in the SoBeHo studios in cooperation with top producers Pomez Di Lorenzo and André Tolba, who represent artists like Sasha, Uwe Ochsenknecht, or Cosmo Klein and have garnered multiple Gold and Platinum discs and three Echo Awards. DJs and remixers like the world-famous Peter Jürgens (Peter Gun/Ten Madison) complete the committed team and furnish the debut album’s novel fusion of different musical styles, which best represents SINA’s versatility, with just the right piquancy.
The second single Hangin on a String, lifted from SINA’s forthcoming album, will be released in Spring 2010 via all the established download platforms.
